Holland & Sons Funeral Home by Dr. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Richard Carter, Ecil Rader, Ralph Rich, Fred Rabil, Roy Marshall and Roy Livesay. Tawney, 54, died Thursday in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Newton, W.Va., he lived here 20 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Geneva Hall Tawney and a son of the late George T. and Mrs. Emma Schoolcraft Tawney. He was a papermaker for Union Camp Corp. and a Baptist. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Richard Lewis Tawney of Franklin; two daughters, Mrs. Sharon Fields of Morristown, Tenn., and Miss Shelia Kay Tawney of Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Jackson of Richwood, W. Va., Mrs. Gertrude Browning of Plymouth, N.C., and Mrs. Earl Miller of Pineville, W. Va.; and four grandchildren.
