CLARENCE LAFAYETTE THOMPSON 

   CAPRON - Funeral services were held Friday at 4 p.m. for Clarence Lafayette 
Thompson, 61, a guard at Southampton Correctional Farm, who died Wednesday in 
Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, after a short illness.

   Pallbearers were for the funeral were William Jarratt, Robert Lee Parham, 
Frank Whitehurst, Joe Tom Griffin, James Vick, Tom Marks, Herman Suits, Robert 
Kelly.

   A native of Caldwell County, N.C., he lived in Southampton County 30 years. 
He was the husband of Mrs. Bessie Pope Thompson.

   He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Mecklenburg County.

   Surviving, besides his widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph E. Gillette 
of Franklin and Mrs. Albert L. Delbridge Jr. of Emporia; two sons, C. Elmer 
Thompson of Millington, Tenn., and Dana H. Thompson of the Army; a sister, 
Mrs. Walter Rogers of Chase City; two brothers, Ralph W. Thompson of Boydton 
and Horace Thompson of Lenoir, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

   The Rev. Daniel M. Spell and the Rev. Charles Spivey conducted the services.
