All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN ALBERT THOMPSON John Albert Thompson, age 73, a highly esteemed citizen of Southampton County, passed away on April 4, at his son’s home, L.B. Thompson, of Richmond, after an illness of several months. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Maggie Ricks Thompson; four sons, W.C. Thompson of West Point, L.E. Thompson of Washington, J.D. Thompson of Roanoke and L.B. Thompson of Richmond; three daughters, Mrs. P.D. Cotton of Franklin, Mrs. C.R. Wade of Yale, Mrs. B.C. Burt of Richmond; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. T.E. Dunn, of Joyner and a number of nieces and nephews, and Miss Mildred Chappell of Richmond, whom he reared from infancy. Mr. Thompson, when quite young, united with the Methodist Church and was active and faithful in church work throughout his entire life. For many years he was a teacher of Men’s Bible Class and up until his recent illness he was assistant teacher of the Men’s Bible Class of the Capron Methodist church of which he was a consistent member. The funeral service was held at Capron Methodist Church by his pastor, Rev. L.D. Stables, assisted by Rev. R. H. Marks and Rev. C. Bailey Jones of Drewryville. Interment followed in the Capron Cemetery.
