LESLIE EDWARD THOMPSON 

   WEST POINT - A funeral service for Leslie Edward Thompson was conducted 
Saturday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Chapel, Franklin, by 
the Rev. Herman Elam of Shady Grove Methodist Church, Mechanicsville. 
Burial was in Capron Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Melvin Thompson, Crawford Wade Jr., Frances Cotton, 
Grayson Thompson, Gerald Burt and Warren C. Edwards.

   Thompson, 69, a native of Southampton County and a retired farmer, died 
early Thursday in a Richmond hospital after a long illness.

   He was a son of John A. and Mrs. Maggie Ricks Thompson of Southampton 
County.  He was a member of Drewryville Methodist Church.

   Surviving are two brothers, Wray C. Thompson of West Point and Louis B. 
Thompson of Courtland; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys T. Wade and Mrs. Grace T. 
Burt of Mechanicsville, and Mrs. Mildred C. Edwards of Courtland.
