Blanche Thomas, died in Lake Alfred, Fla., on Christmas Day at 11:30 o’clock in the evening. She was in apparent good health and entered into the festivities of the day with zest but was taken ill about nine o’clock and passed away before any of her relatives could reach her bedside. She was the last of the immediate Thomas family and was the daughter of the late Person S. Thomas and Delia B. Thomas. "Miss Blanche" was a highly intelligent and cultured lady and had had a very colorful career. She was a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music and had traveled and studied abroad. She had taught music and voice in the Franklin Female Seminary, Marshall College in West Virginia and Coker College in South Carolina. About five years ago she retired and moved to Florida. She was indeed a gracious and pleasant person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends as she was a frequent visitor here. Funeral services were held in the Thomas Memorial Baptist church on Monday afternoon, December 28th, at 2:30 o’clock with interment in the Thomas Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by a number of nephews and nieces among whom are Peter Thomas and Amos P. Pope of Drewryville and Mrs. LeRoy Majette of Courtland. L.
