ARTHUR McGIRVIOUS* TOMLIN 

   CARRSVILLE - A funeral service for Arthur McGirvious (Guff) Tomlin was 
conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, 
by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr.  Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were William H. Rose, J.E. Rose Jr., J.F. Duke, Joseph Fowler, 
Charles Futrell and Robert L. Johnson.

   Tomlin, 85, died Friday in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

   A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of James and Mrs. Frances 
Bradshaw Tomlin and the husband of the late Mrs. Berta Butler Tomlin.

   He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

   He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leona Cutchin of Franklin; four sons, 
William A. Tomlin and James J. Tomlin of Franklin, Roy G. Tomlin of 
Carrsville, and Oscar V. Tomlin of Pennsville, N.J.; a sister, Mrs. Elsie 
Wilkins of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
