All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIE LENORA DARDEN DARDEN TURBYFILL Burial rites for Mrs. Willie Darden Turbyfill were held at the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery here yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock, Mrs. Turbyfill dying at the Norfolk General Hospital Tuesday morning after an illness of a few weeks. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mrs. Jane Gardner Darden of the Sycamore community, and is survived by her husband William Louis Turbyfill of Norfolk; a son, Lloyd A. Darden of this town by her first marriage to J.W. Darden of Franklin who died many years ago; by two sisters, Mrs. G.E. Johnson of Suffolk and Miss Estelle Darden of Norfolk; by two brothers, Rochelle J. Darden of Roanoke and Robert Darden, Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., besides a large friends. Mrs. Turbyfill was a useful and active member of the Franklin Baptist Church during her residence here, and maintained the same interest in Norfolk at Park Place Baptist Church, where she taught a class of women; was an officer in the Woman’s missionary organization and was a past chief of the Pythian Sisters Lodge No.3, Norfolk. She is known and remembered in Franklin as an exemplary Christian character of many fine traits. Funeral services were held from Park Place Baptist Church yesterday after noon at 3:30 o’clock by her former pastor, Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin in the absence of Dr. H.W. Tiffany pastor of Park Place Church, and the body was brought to Franklin for burial with services at the cemetery. The pallbearers were: E.L. Pickler, John Anderson and Frank Stevens of Norfolk; Richmond H. Peters, Jr., J.P. King, Vernard P. Cotton, W.R. Atkinson, Hunter Darden and M.G. Councill of Franklin.
