ASHBY TURNER ENDS HIS LIFE AT HOME IN SEBRELL Prominent Citizen of That Place, Despondent Over Financial Reverses, Eats Christmas Dinner With Family Before Committing Rash Act. J. Ashby Turner, prominent citizen of the Sebrell community, committed suicide at his home there yesterday. His body was found in a stable with the top of his head blown off and a shot gun from which a load had been discharged found lying by his side told the mute story of the means of death. The rash act was committed soon after the family had finished their Christmas dinner it is said. Others noted his absence from the house and a search of the premises followed. Despondency over financial troubles is advanced as the reason for the deed. Mr. Turner was president of the Epworth League of the Methodist church, secretary of the Sunday School, and president of the Civic Improvement League of Sebrell. The funeral was held this afternoon at S o’clock and burial was in the family plot near Capron. He is survived by his widow and six children, Keith Turner, of Richmond; Miss Ellen Turner, of Goldsboro, N.C.; Edgar, Gillette, Shelley and Rose Turner, of Sebrell. J.
