Turner of Sebrell died Monday, January 4, at the home of her son, J.H. Gray, Jr. She had been in failing health for several years, but had taken her bed just ten days ago. Mrs. Turner was the daughter of the late Jason A. and Mary Cross Cutchins of Isle of Wight County and was twice married, her first husband, W.H. Gray, dying many years ago. She was a member of Sebrell Methodist Church and faithfully attended services there as long as her health permitted. Surviving are a son, J.H. Gray, Jr., three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 by her pastor, Rev. S.W. Wilkinson. "Sometime We'll Understand," was sung during the services. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery in Courtland. The casket was covered with a double spray of white lilies, pink rosebuds and fern and there were many other beautiful floral tributes. The pallbearers were: A.E. Briggs, R.R. Reese, R.N. Wells, C.H. Rowe, Ryland Whitehead, S.V. Camp, Jr., W.B. Simmons and Dr. G.H. Quillen. Relatives and friends from a distance attending services were: Mrs. Rena Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Gibson and son of Norfolk; Mrs. Alice Cutchins, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cutchins, Mrs. Clyde Pharis and Mr. and Mrs. Bynum Cutchins and son of Suffolk; Mrs. Annie Turner and Keith Turner of Richmond; Mrs. Ernest Johnson of Alberta, and Raymond Cutchins of Portsmouth.
