All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FRANCES "FANNIE" ELIZABETH BELL TURNER Mrs. Fannie Bell Turner, 77, died Tuesday night in a Richmond hospital, following a brief illness. Mrs. Turner was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William A. Bell of Southampton County, and the widow of Marcus W. Turner. Mrs. Turner lived in Courtland for over fifty years, operating the Southampton Hotel in that town for 40 years. She is survived by one son, W.M. Turner of Norfolk; two grandchildren, George Hinson Parker, Jr. and Mrs. J.K. Bradford of Franklin; a great-grandchild, Joseph Kenneth Bradford, Jr. of Franklin; a brother, Tom Bell of Jarratt; a sister, Mrs. Zella Bell of Richmond, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence of her nephew, T.B. Bell, in Courtland, burial taking place in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. The Rev. J.E. Brooks of Colonial Beach Methodist Church conducted the rites, assisted by the Rev. W.W. Beasley of Courtland Methodist Church. Pallbearers were George H. Parker, T.B. Bell, W.A. Bell, R.W. Clark, C.H. Sherrod, Roland Sherrod, Alton Williams and Marion Bell.
