HENRY THOMAS TURNER

   BRANCHVILLE - A funeral service for Henry Thomas Turner was conducted 
Tuesday at 2 p.m. in McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Daniel Ivy of 
Branchville Methodist Church.  Burial was in Beechwood cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Alton Overby, Linton Grizzard, Tommy Kee, Horace Edwards, 
T.A. Bolton and L.V. Maddrey.

   Turner, 78, drowned while fishing from the banks of the Meherrin River near 
the bridge of Rt. 195 Friday.  His body was recovered Sunday morning.

   A retired farmer, he was a native of Southampton County.  He was a son of 
James H. and Mrs. Victoria Turner and the husband of Mrs. Mary Davis Turner.

   Besides his widow, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Camille Freeman of 
Emporia and Mrs. Myrtle Barnes of Severn, N.C.; six sons, James Henry Turner 
of Wakefield, Raymond Gray Truner of Jackson, N.C., Leon Turner, Charlie Buck 
Turner, Donald Turner, and Tommie Turner of Jackson; two brothers, Jack Turner 
of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. and Max Turner of Boykins; four half-brothers, Joshua 
Turner of Branchville, Nathan Turner and Sam Turner of Roanoke Rapids, and 
David Turner of Boykins; and two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Dunlow and Mrs. Addie 
Dunlow of Emporia.
