All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JAMES ROSSER TURNER James Rosser Turner, son of James W. and the late Mrs. Dora Lankford Turner, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Baltimore, March 25, after a long illness, being confined to his bed a few days prior to his death and passing away a few hours before members of his family reached his bedside. He was born near Sedley January 22, 1899. In early childhood he united with Nottoway Methodist Church later moving his membership to a Presbyterian Church in Baltimore where he has made his home the past seven years. He was a dutiful and obedient son, a young man of sterling character, upright and loyal in all his relations in life. At the time of his death he held a position with the Sherwood Brothers of Baltimore. He is survived by his father, his stepmother, Mrs. Sarah Turner, a sister, Mrs. R.C. Bulls of Sedley, a half-brother, Samuel C. Turner of Newport News and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the grave in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, Saturday afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends and were conducted by Rev. H.F. Turner. "It Is Well With My Soul" was sung by Mrs. R.C. Williams and Miss Virginia Williams and "Home of The Soul" was sung by Mrs. W.S. Urquhart. The casket was covered in sprays of pink roses and Easter lilies. The pallbearers were: J.D. Owen, R.T. Blythe, George Wade, Samuel Wade, G.S. Cornwell, H.H. Chappel and J.C. Wills.
