She was the daughter of the late Gilliam and Jane Lankford Beale of Southampton County. She was one of the oldest members of Black Creek Baptist Church, in which she served faithfully for many years. Surviving are one son, Harvey Turner of Franklin; one daughter, Mrs. Lorenzo Drake of Sedley; and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Black Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, October 17, at 2 p.m. by Rev. A.W. Coates, pastor assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, a former pastor. Rev. James A. Coney sang "Sunrise Tomorrow," Rev. and Mrs. James A. Coney, accompanied by Mrs. Julia Urquhart, sang "Under His Wing," and the church choir sang "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." There were many lovely floral tributes. She was the kind of wife, mother and grandmother who inspires great devotion and love; and along with the emptiness and loneliness which her loved ones will feel comes also the joy of knowing how good our Heavenly Father has been in giving a life so well lived and of such rich benediction. Active pallbearers were Lorenzo Drake, Thomas F. Hundley and Willie Bradshaw of Sedley, David Lankford of Ivor, and Elvin Whitley and Nattie Bradshaw of Carrsville. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Godwin, Jr., of Smithfield, George Babb and Herbert Babb of Sebrell, George Kitchen of Franklin, Edward Forrest, Jr., of Sedley, and Melvin Turner, Wilbur Turner and Frank Drake, the last three grandson of Mrs. Turner. Burial was in the church cemetery.
