ELIZABETH BRADSHAW UMPHLETT

   ZUNI - Mrs. Lizzie Bradshaw Umphlett, 73, widow of Lonnie Riddick Umphlett 
died Monday morning in her home after a sudden illness.

   A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of Julius Wilson and 
Mrs. Mary Jane Brock Bradshaw.

   She was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church.

   Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Martin of Williamsburg and Mrs. 
Martha Rhodes of Windsor; four sons, Lonnie Riddick Umphlett, Jr. of the home, 
Garland L. Umphlett of Stony Point, N.Y., Lewis Umphlett and U.S. Umphleltt of 
Zuni; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Blank of Petersburg and Mrs. Sally Mumford of 
Franklin; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

   A funeral service was conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Tucker Swamp Baptist 
Church by the pastor, the Rev. Ernest L. Cornwell, and the Rev. Harry Christie 
of Bethany Presbyterian Church.  Burial was in Tucker Swamp Church cemetery. 
The body will be taken from W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home to the church 
at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

   Pallbearers were E.L. Bryant, Richard J. Holland, T.M. Carr, Jr., J.R. 
Bowden, B.A. Mumford, R.D. Britt, Joe Hobbs and Harold West.
