All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ANNIE BLOUNT URQUHART Miss Annie Urquhart, of the prominent Southampton family of that name, died at her home, "Charlie's Hope" plantation, near Sebrell early Wednesday morning, following a stroke of paralysis sustained the previous evening. Miss Urquhart was the daughter of the late William Urquhart and her mother was before her marriage a Miss Goodwin of Greensville County. She is survived by one sister, Miss Lucy Urquhart, a half-sister, Miss Pattie Urquhart, and a number of cousins. Miss Urquhart was a member of a delightful household famous for its hospitality, and "Charlie's Hope" is one of the oldest plantations in this part of Virginia still remaining in the hands of the lineal descendants of its founder. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Courtland, where Miss Urquhart had been a devout communicant for many years, the Rector, Rev. Jas. S. Watt, conduction the rites. Interment was made in the family plot in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, and the body bearers were: A.E. Briggs, R.R. Reese, and S.V. Camp of Sebrell; R.A. Pretlow and Barclay Pretlow of Franklin; Frank A. Holladay and John P. Lee of Suffolk and Dr. P.P. Causey of Sedley. The honorary pallbearers were: E.R. Reese, Dr. Charles Grandy, Dr. R.L. Raiford, Edward Rogers, Dr. E.F. Reese, J.C. Causey, J.A. Pretlow, Joe Urquhart, David Shelton and C.F. Urquhart. Annie Blount URQUHART, b.
