A funeral service for retired judge and former Courtland mayor Charles Fox Urquhart Jr., 65, was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery by the Rev. Paul L. Swartz. Pallbearers were B.A. Williams Jr., C.A. Clements, Dr. E.F. Reese III, C.B. Harding, F.W. Poates and R.H. Brooks. At his death, Mr. Urquhart was commissioner of accounts for Southampton County. A native of Sacramento, Calif. he lived in the Courtland area, 40 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Dorothy Harper Urquhart and a son of Charles Fox and Mrs. Irene Coe Urquhart Sr. He was former associate judge of the County Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court of Southampton County and also judge of Courtland Town Court. He was former president of Southampton County Bar Association and former director of the Ridley Foundation. He was a vestryman and treasurer of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Courtland, first president of the Southampton County Historical Society, member of Sons of the American Revolution, American Camellia Society, Courtland Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University Law School and member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Louisa Urquhart Bryant of Greensboro, N.C.; a son, Charles Fox Urquhart III of Courtland; and two granddaughters. Hon.
