Frank Vick of Boykins died May 11 in his 79th year. Although a helpless invalid for 16 years, he exemplified a patient spirit and it was his delight to have friends come in and fellowship with him. It was always his great joy to hear the Word of God read in his presence and to be remembered in prayer. Sylvester Franklin Vick was born in Southampton County, the son of Martha Eudora Reese and Horace Vick. He is survived by his widow; two sons, Herman B. Vick of Richmond and Guy B. Vick of Woodberry Forest; three daughters, Mrs. N.F. Gray of Newport News, Misses Viola and Sara Vick of Boykins; four half- brothers, E.A. Felts of Drewryville, L.D. Felts of Sebrell, B.E. Felts of Branchville and J.B. Felts of Boykins; one half-sister, Mrs. Maude Rawls of Capron, and nine grandchildren. He was a member of the Boykins Baptist Church for 70 years, a regular attendant at Sunday school and church until ill-health prevented. He was a merchant in Boykins until he became an invalid. The funeral was conducted by his Pastor, Rev. Frank B. Handley, assisted by Rev. R.L. Haga. In the course of the service glowing tribute was paid to the faithful wife who stood so patiently and courageously by his side during these years. At the grave Mrs. H.M. Purviance sang "At Eventide." Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery. The active pallbearers were: B.F. Britt, W.F. McKinstry, T.H. Porter, W. Hugh Powell, Walter Gray, Wallace White, A.L. Knight and Frank Stephens.
