He was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, a member of Newsoms Methodist Church, and a retired employee of Camp Manufacturing Co. of Franklin. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Carrie Thorpe Vick; two daughters, Mrs. Connie V. Nicholson of Courtland and Mrs. Marrietta V. Friesner of Baltimore; two sons, James Cannon Vick of Shenandoah and Marshall Thorpe Vick of Newsoms; a sister, Mrs. W.J. Worrell of Newsoms; a brother, George B. Vick of Courtland and five grandchildren. The body was taken to Proviance Funeral Home, Boykins. A funeral service was conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Newsoms’ Methodist Church by the Rev. Ben W. Coe and the Rev. H. Warren Landis of Chuckatuck Methodist Church. Burial will be in Newsoms Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church an hour before the service. Pallbearers were J.C. Bunn, Sr., E. Beale Carter, Sr., Earnest J. Coggsdale, Franklin Pope, L.L. Porter, J.Q. Worrell, Dave T. Drake, and Russell Drake. Honorary pallbearers were members of Mr. Vick’s Sunday School Class and other friends of the family.
