All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HERMAN VICK Herman Vick, aged 55 years, a well-known farmer of the Newsoms community, died Tuesday morning at his home after an illness of several months. Mr. Vick was the son of the late J. Wesley and Martha Jane Vick of Southampton County. He was a faithful member of the Newsoms Methodist Church, in which he had served for many years. Mr. Vick is survived by his wife, Mrs. Willie Whitfield Vick of Newsoms; one son, Herman E. Vick, AUS, stationed in Alabama; and three daughters, Mrs. Hugh Ferguson and Mrs. James A. Jones of Newsoms and Mrs. B.C. Whitley of Franklin. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Drake, Mrs. Ray Vick, and Mrs. Hollie Lassiter, all of Newsoms; two brothers, Eddie Vick of Newsoms and Gay E. Vick of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the residence in Newsoms Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, with Rev. F.L. Baker of Suffolk officiating. Interment was in the Newsoms cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers: Genie Drake, John Wesley Drake, Spurgeon Drake, Linwood Drake, Edward Lassiter, and Raymond Vick. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.
