MARSHALL THORPE VICK 

   NEWSOMS - A funeral service for Marshall Thorpe Vick, 69, was held 
at 2 p.m. Sunday in Newsoms Cemetery by the Revs. Arthur Green, Harry 
Bunch and G. Durham Ipock.  McDowell Funeral Home of Boykins had charge.

   Vick died Friday in a hospital.

   A native of Southampton County, he was a peanut buyer and farmer and 
was a former owner of Vick Inc.  He was a dealer of Smith-Douglas 
Fertilizer for 25 years and was a director of Virginia National Bank in 
Boykins.  Vick was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church and a 
charter member of Newsoms Ruritan Club.

   Survivors include his mother, Carrie Thorpe Vick; a sister, Marietta 
V. Friesner of Baltimore; a brother, James C. Vick of Shenandoah; and 
several niece and nephews.
