Vick, 66, widow of John W. Vick, died at 3:45 o’clock Sunday afternoon, June 15, at the home of her son, Wade H. Vick, 1016 Washington Street, Portsmouth, after a long illness. The deceased was a native of Bertie County, N.C., but had resided in Newsoms the greater part of her life. She was the daughter of Augusta and Nancy Jane Futrell of Aulander, N.C. Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. Louise Padgett Hughes of Portsmouth; six sons, Dellie A. Vick of Newsoms, C.F. Vick of Suffolk, H.L. Vick of California, and John E. Vick, A.T. Vick and Wade H. Vick of Portsmouth, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. J.H. Smith, Mrs. R.C. Cutchins and Mrs. W.K. Story of Newsoms. Funeral services were held at the Newsoms Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock, with Rev. R.B. Moore, pastor of the Newsoms Methodist Church, officiating. The pallbearers were Thomas Butler, Howard Ellis, J.R. Holloman, Jr., Joseph Smith, J.C. Story and C.L. Vick. Rosa E. (FUTRELL; Mrs. John W.)
