Samuel Calvin (Buck) Vick, Sr., 63, died Tuesday in Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Southampton County, and a farmer and merchant. He operated the S.C. Vick and Son Peanut Buying Co. He was a member of the Newsoms United Methodist Church, where he was past president of the Men's Bible Class and served on the Adminstrative Board. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a charter member of the Newsoms Ruritan Club. Survivors include his wife, Alice Lee Bryant Vick; a daughter, Lee Anne Long of Halifax, NC; a son, S.C. (Sammy) Vick, Jr., Newsoms; two brothers, B. Ross Vick of Boykins and Peter M. Vick of Newsoms; two grandchildren, Whitney Louise Vick and Wallace Bryant Long; an aunt, Ruth O'Berry Griffin of Newsoms. Graveside funeral services will be conducted today at 3 p.m. in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, by the Rev. Arthus Green. Memorials may be sent to the Newsoms United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge of arrangements.
