All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIE WHITFIELD VICK Mrs. Willie Whitfield Vick, 60, of Franklin, a former resident of the Newsoms community, died Thursday afternoon, June 6, in Raiford Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Vick was the widow of Herman Vick and the daughter of the late William Eley and Susan Williams Whitfield of Southampton County. She was a member of the Sunbeam Baptist Church, where she served many years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. D.C. Whitley and Mrs. James D. Jones, both of Franklin, and Mrs. Hugh Ferguson of Boykins; a son, Herman E. Vick of Holland; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Woodard Britt and Miss Effa Whitfield, both of Portsmouth; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Rev. Tucker G. Humphries, pastor of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, and Rev. Carl Lee Ousley, pastor of the Holland Baptist Church. Burial was in the Newsoms Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Hugh Gibson, Carl Picot, James Fuller, Carroll Holland, Carey Lee Vick, Gilbert Whitley, Marshall Jones and James Bracey. Willie E.
