COUNCILL DELANO VAUGHAN FRANKLIN SOLDIER KILLED IN VIETNAM Army S.Sgt. Councill Delano Vaughan, 31, has been reported dead in action in Vietnam by the Defense Department. He had been missing since Nov. 15. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Mrs. Alta Hatfield Vaughan and the late William W. Vaughan and the husband of Mrs. Son-In Kin Vaughan. He was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment. He was in the Army nine years and was on his second tour of duty in Vietnam. He had two years of service in Korea. He attended Franklin High School. Besides his mother and widow, surviving are a daughter, Lisa Ann Vaughan of Franklin; three brothers, William W. Vaughan, Jr., and George E. Vaughan of Franklin and Joseph E. Vaughan of Suffolk; and eight sisters, Mrs. Stanley W. Johnson and Mrs. Dennis M. Lamm of Franklin, Miss Patricia Vaughan and Miss Margaret L. Vaughan of Richmond, Mrs. Raymond D. Lamm of Spottswood, N.J., Mrs. James E. Foster of Courtland, Mrs. H.J. Porter of Newsoms, and Mrs. Ray Simms of Lynchburg. The body will be sent to W.J.M.
