A native of Southampton County, he was a son of L.W. and Mrs. Mary Ricks Vaughan and the husband of Mrs. Pearl Harrell Vaughan. He was a member of Lynchburg Christian Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Catherine R. Vaughan of Lynchburg and Mrs. James Skidmore of Stanford, Conn.; four brothers, L.W. Vaughan Jr. of Norfolk and Vance W. Vaughan, J. Carroll Vaughan, and Robert A. Vaughan of Franklin, five sisters, Miss Mary R. Vaughan of Portsmouth, Mrs. Lafayette Cox of Arlington, Mrs. Richard Etheridge of Norlina, and Mrs. James E. Moore and Mrs. Stuart Trippe of Norfolk; and a grandchild. A funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. St. Elmo Nauman. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family was at 841 Clay St., Franklin. Pallbearers were: Burton McLemore, Edwin Westbrook, A.W. Clopton, James Jeffress, Ellett Anderson, Jack Farmer, Burt Pulley and Vaughan Cox.
