Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were William L. Blythe, John L. Brenner, Jerry Hewett, F.M. Smith, J. Tommie Vinson, Frank Walters, Thomas Atkins and L.R. Pittman. Vaughan died Monday in Kill Devil Hills, N.C. after a sudden illness. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Julia Cartin Vaughan and a son of James T. and Mrs. Nannie Babb Vaughan. He was a member of High St. Methodist Church and a retired machinist of the Union Camp Corp. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, C. Linwood Vaughan of Franklin, one sister, Mrs. Lila Tomkins of Richmond and two grandchildren.
