She was 80 years of age, a daughter of the late Lawson Vaughan and Mary* Jane Whitfield Vaughan of this county, and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. Her only surviving sister, Miss Quintilla Vaughan, died only three months ago.* Miss Emily was a member of the Franklin Christian Church and is survived by a brother, P.C. Vaughan of Jacksonville, Fla., and by 16 nieces and nephews. Burial services were conducted at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock by the Rev. E. Norfleet Gardner of Henderson, N.C., assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, her pastor, Dr. Wm. T. Scott, being out of the State at the time. The pallbearers were: H.L. Westbrook, Thomas N. White, Carlton Cutchins, Joe Bynum Gay, Jr., George H. Parker and Letcher Eley.
