Vaughan, a well known resident of Franklin, died on Saturday, April 1st, in his 69th year, in the Protestant hospital, Norfolk, where he was carried several weeks ago. He had been in ill health for some time, and had suffered much during the past year. The deceased was a native of this county, and was a brave soldier in the Confederate army, a member of Company "H" of Col. Barham's regiment of the 24th Va. Cavalry. He was a merchant here for a number of years, and had been tax collector in Franklin district for several years prior to his death. He had never married, and leaves no brother or sisters. The funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from W.J.M. Holland's undertaking parlors by Dr. C.H. Rowland, Rev. J.L. McCutcheon and Rev. R.M. Chandler, the interment following in Poplar Spring cemetery. The pallbearers were: P.D. Camp, Uriah Rawls, G.H. Beale, J.B. Gay, J.S. Cobb, G.A. Gardner, J. Tom Butler, T.W. Cobb. Fayette "Fred" H.
