Vaughan, 84, a well-known resident of the Sycamore community, died Saturday, August 9, after an illness of several weeks occasioned by injuries sustained in a fall. The deceased was the daughter of the late Edgar and Josephine Darden Vaughan of Southampton County. She was a lifelong member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hyland T. Edwards of Franklin, and a son, Roland B. Vaughan of Capron; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Vaughan were conducted from the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Monday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock by Rev. Vivian W. Evans of Portsmouth, former pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church, and Rev. R.H. Marks of Capron. Burial was in Sycamore Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Ira H. Barham, Willie Cotton, Hunter Darden, Sr., Theo Darden, Emory Harcum and Otto Harcum. Idella "Della" V. (VAUGHAN; Mrs. Joseph C.)
