All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ LAWSON ROY VAUGHAN Lawson Roy Vaughan, age 46, well-known resident of the Franklin community, died at Raiford Hospital Monday morning following an illness of more than two years. He was the son of L.W. Vaughan of Norfolk and the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ricks Vaughan of Southampton County. Mr. Vaughan had been a member of Union Christian Church in the community since boyhood. Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Crumpler Vaughan; two daughters, Miss Frances Vaughan of Norfolk and Miss Anne Vaughan of Franklin; five sisters, Miss Mary R. Vaughan of Portsmouth, Mrs. Lafayette Cox of Arlington, Mrs. Richard Jeffress of Norlina, N.C., and Mrs. James Moore and Mrs. Stuart Tripp of Norfolk; five brothers, L.W. Vaughan, Jr., of Norfolk, Vance, Carroll and Robert Vaughan of Franklin, C. Ricks Vaughan of Roanoke, besides a number of nieces and nephews. Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by Dr. Elwood W. Jones. Pallbearers were Theon Darden, Ryland Edwards, Claude Edwards, Otto Harcum, Pat Cotton, Walter Beale, Walter Luther Young and George Burgess.
