LONNIE PAUL VAUGHAN

   Lonnie Paul Vaughan, 51, of 556 Laurel Street, died Friday, April 29 at 
about 2:15 a.m. in an automobile accident.

   A native of Bertie County, N.C. he was the son of Mrs. Caroline Byrd 
Vaughan and the late Levi M. Vaughan.  He had lived in Franklin since 1930 
and was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

   Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Veta Keech Vaughan; 
three daughters, Mrs. Lois Hodge of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Beverly Gray of 
Norfolk, and Miss Nancy K. Vaughan of the home; a son, Lonnie Mitchell 
Vaughan of the home; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary V. Hawkins and Mrs. Lewis 
Russer of Norfolk, Mrs. Julia Page of Virginia Beach, and Mrs. George 
Ferguson of Columbus, Ohio

   A funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Poplar Spring cemetery by the 
Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church.  The body was taken to the 
cemetery from W.J.M. Holland Funeral Home at 1:50 p.m.

   Pallbearers were Ralph Rich, Ned Bess, Junius Rainey, Bill Tawney, Fenton 
Holt, Wally Pierce, Tommie Dunlow and Stanley Rome.
