All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MAGGIE LANKFORD VAUGHAN FRANKLIN - Mrs. Maggie Lankford Vaughan, 76, died at the residence in Norfleet Street, Franklin, on Thursday morning, February 20, after a brief illness. Mrs. Vaughan was the widow of Eddie L. Vaughan and the daughter of the late James Irvin and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Barnes Lankford of Southampton County. One of the oldest members of Sycamore Baptist Church and its Grace Wiggins circle, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. W. Emory Beale of Holland, Mrs. Rufus H. Darden of Windsor, Mrs. Harry W. Woods of Norfolk, and Misses Temperance and Maggie Lankford Vaughan of Franklin; a son, Jesse Frank Vaughan of Suffolk; a granddaughter, Miss Annette Rae Woods of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. John L. Eley, Sr., and Mrs. Hunter Darden, Sr., both of Franklin; a brother, Sam W. Lankford of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at Sycamore Baptist Church on Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church; Rev. Perry Ellis, pastor of South Quay Baptist Church; and Rev. Vivian W. Evans, pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery*. Pallbearers were Vernard Cotton, Murray Cotton, Harvey Darden, Thomas Irvin Darden, Herman Eley, John L. Eley, Jr., Aubrey Lankford and Sam W.
