THOMAS VAUGHAN

   Mr. Thomas Vaughan of R.F.D. No.1 died last Monday night.  He was in 
Courtland that day, apparently in good health, but after his arrival home late 
in the evening he was attacked with a severe pain in the heart and lived only 
about four hours.  Acute indigestion was the cause of death.  The remains were 
buried at the family burying ground at the home of the deceased and the burial 
services were conducted by Mr. L.W. McGrath.  The deceased is survived by his 
widow, who was Miss Lucy M. Applewhite, and several children; four sisters, 
Mrs. M. F. Darden of Courtland, Mrs. Randall Applewhite of near Courtland, 
Mrs. Deberry of Conway, N.C. and Mrs. Loving of Wester, Va.; three brothers, 
Messrs. Henry Vaughan of Norfolk, George Vaughan of Clarksville and J. Woodis 
Vaughan of Lawrenceville.
