Vaughan, prominent Franklin citizen who died suddenly in Petersburg yesterday while on his way to see a physician in Richmond, will be held Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the grave Poplar Spring Cemetery. The Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by Dr. M.A. McLean will officiate. Active pallbearers will be W.B. Simpson, J.S. Collier, C.O. Byrd, Dr. A.P. Cutchin, L.B. Holland, J.A. Williams, W.H. Lankford, and R.C. Branch. ****************************************************************************** THOMAS ARTHUR VAUGHAN Thomas Arthur Vaughan, popular citizen of this town, dropped dead suddenly in Petersburg on Tuesday of this week. Mr. Vaughan, who was 54 years old, was en route to Richmond when he stopped in at the Petersburg drug store where his son, Marion L. Vaughan, a pharmacist, is employed, and was talking to his son across the counter when he suddenly succumbed. Mr. Vaughan was a native of Dinwiddie County, the son of the late Thomas Allen Vaughan and Mrs. Alice Perkinson Vaughan, but had lived most of his life in Franklin, being employed as a sawyer with the Camp Manufacturing Company for about 34 years. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and of the Bruner Bible Class, and of Franklin Lodge Knights of Pythias. Numbering many friends here, Mr. Vaughan was known familiarly as "Kid" by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Jones Vaughan; two sons, Marion L. Vaughan of Petersburg and T. Arthur Vaughan, Jr. of Franklin; one brother, Chesley Vaughan of Petersburg, and a sister, Mrs. J.E. Bains of Suffolk. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3:30 at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery here by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by Dr. M.A. MacLean of Petersburg. Pallbearers were: W.B. Simpson, J.S. Collier, C.O. Byrd, Dr. A.P. Cutchin, L.B. Holland, J.A. Williams, W.H. Lankford and R.C. Branch.
