He was a native of Franklin and had been a resident of Norfolk for 53 years. He was the son of the late J. Hilary and Mrs. Margaret Wells Vaughan, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Peyton Vaughan; three daughters, Mrs. David Lindsay, Coinjock, N.C.; Mrs. Bertie Harper, Newport News, and Mrs. J.T. Vaughan, Franklin; one son, C.W. Vaughan, Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. W.T. Harcum, and three brothers, J.H., R.T. and J.C. Vaughan, all of Franklin, and eight grandchildren. The body will be taken from the residence to Central Baptist Church of which he was a charter member, for funeral services tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** William Franklin Vaughan, age 79, died at his residence in Norfolk Sunday following an illness of several days. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Central Baptist Church, of which he was a charter member, by Rev. P. Rowland Wagner and interment was made in Elmwood Cemetery.
