Holland & Sons Funeral Chapel by the Rev. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. C.L. Gatling. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Mutt Cutchins, Lloyd Story, Leonard Rose, Marks Edwards, Charles E. Beaton, Merrett Raiford, Clyde E. Vaughan and Edward Hatfield. Vaughan, 63, died Thursday morning in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Alta Hatfield Vaughan and a son of George W. and Mrs. Berta Rose Vaughan. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ. He was a night watchmen for Franklin Equipment Co. Besides his widow, surviving are four sons, William W. Vaughan, Jr. and George Edward Vaughan of Franklin, Councill D. Vaughan of Colorado and Joseph E. Vaughan of Suffolk; eight daughters, Mrs. Stanley W. Johnson and Mrs. Dennis M. Lamm of Franklin, Miss Margaret Vaughan and Miss Patricia Vaughan of Richmond, Mrs. Ray Simms of Lynchburg, Mrs. H.J. Porter of Newsoms, Mrs. James E. Foster of Courtland, and Mrs. Raymond D. Lamm of Spottswood, N.J., eight brothers, Randall Vaughan and Robert Vaughan of Portsmouth, John Vaughan, Woodrow Vaughan, and Ray Vaughan of Newport News, Clyde Vaughan of Windsor, Reginald Vaughan of Walters, and Garland Vaughan of Suffolk; and 20 grandchildren.
