E. Mallary Binns of Newsoms, the Rev. Ben B. Ussery of Boykins and the Rev. Roland Pruette of Murfreesboro, N.C. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leroy Dail, H.C. Bradshaw, Roy Bradshaw, Lemuel Rountree, J.R. Holloman, Howard Ellis, W.T. O'Berry, James Fuller and George Cook, deacons of the Newsoms church. ****************************************************************************** FRANCES LILLIAN COATES VINCENT NEWSOMS - Mrs. Frances Lillian Coates Vincent died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, Feb. 18, while visiting at a friend's home near here. Mrs. Vincent was a native of Halifax County but had lived here many years. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Coates.* She was a member of Newsoms Baptist church, where she taught the Women's Bible Class for 20 years. She was a member of the WCTU and taught in the public schools of Southampton County for many years. Surviving are her husband, Hugh Carroll Vincent of Newsoms; one son, Hugh Carroll Vincent, Jr., of Murfreesboro, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. James C. Sakes of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Mattie M. Mills, and Mrs. L.C. Herring, both of Kinston, N.C., and Mrs. W.H. Mottesheard of Roanoke. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins by the Rev. E. Mallary Binns of Newsoms Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Roland Prewett, Murfreesboro, N.C. Baptist Church and the Rev. Ben Ussery, of the Boykins Baptist Church. Burial was in Hollywood Hill Cemetery, Newsoms. Pallbearers were Leroy Dail, H.C. Bradshaw, Roy Bradshaw, Lemuel Rountree, J.R. Holloman, Howard Ellis, W.T. O'Berry, James Fuller and George Cook, all members of the Board of Deacons of Newsoms Baptist Church.
