WILLIAM WINTON WEBB NEWSOMS - Services were held on Sunday June 12 for Lt. William W. Webb at the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home. Full military honors were conducted at Hollywood Cemetery in Newsoms. The Rev. Robert Abitt, the Rev. Allen Lawrence, the Rev. R. McKinney and Chaplin (Captain) Richard Martin, who escorted Lt. Webb’s body from Oakland, Calif. conducted the services. Serving as military pallbearers were the military unit from Fort Lee. Honorary pallbearers were Lt. Donald Feferman, Lt. Frederick Dwight, Lt. Joseph Love, Lt. Joe Morrisette, Lt. George Robert Prince, Jr., Sgt. Donald E. Rountree, Jr., Sgt. Jarvis Brett, Spc. Kenneth Braxton Bunn and Spc. Robert B. Story, III. Lt. Webb, 24, died June 5 while on reconnaissance mission when hit by hostile small arms fire. Surviving in addition to his wife Mrs. Rebecca Rountree, are his parents Mr. and Mrs. David Grant Webb and a sister Sandra Webb of Abingdon. Lt.
