PIERE WISE FRANKLIN - A funeral service for St. Piere Wise was conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Poplar Spring cemetery by the Rev. Russell Hughes of Franklin Church of God. The body was taken from W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home to the cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Francis, Charles Payne, Pierce Hughes, Joe Vaughan, Dennis Hughes and Marvin R. Wall Jr. Wise, 59*, died Monday in a Williamsburg hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Eula Schumpert Wise and a son of Mrs. Maggie Conley Wise and the late Samuel Clifton Wise. A native of Saluda, S.C., he was a member of Rowan Baptist Church, Clinton, N.C. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are five sons, Calvin Rudolph Wise of Goldsboro, N.C., Elmer Omeria Wise of Palmer Valley, Calif., Marvin Ray Wise of Carrsville, Vance Rawlings Wise of Miami, and Charles David Wise of Wisconsin; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Wise Cornwell of Franklin and Mrs. Mary Wise Stanley of Smithfield; a brother, John Wise of Weldon, N.C.; and a sister, Mrs. Hoyt Black of Langley, S.C. St. Piere WISE, Saluda, SC native, d. 18 Jul 1966, Williamsburg, age 59*, interred in Poplar Spring Cemetery (Annex 3, Section B, Plot 94A; unmarked*), Franklin, 19 Jul 1966, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), July 21, 1966, p. 3 *Typo in original gave 49; online data gives b. 17 Aug 1906, so he d. age 59.
