West, age 63, of Ivor, who died on Sunday, June 6, 1943, at Raiford Hospital after a short illness, was conducted at the Holland Funeral Home of Franklin, by the Rev. S.C. Crawford, pastor of Ivor Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Bates, pastor of the Ivor Methodist Church. Hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide with Me," were sung by Joel C. Holland of Franklin. The casket was covered with a pall of white carnations, Baby’s Breath and fern, there were many more floral designs from friends and relatives, with expressions of sympathy. Besides his wife, Mrs. Vera Johnson West, he is survived by the following children*; Charles W. West, Jr., of Portsmouth; Walter Thomas West of the U.S.N. Bainbridge, Md.; Margaret, Marvin and Nancy West of Ivor; three brothers, L.T., Lonnie and Leroy West and five sisters, Mrs. Philip Raiford, Mrs. Edward Lowe, Mrs. L.L. Lewis, Mrs. Irving Drewry, and Mrs. Aurelius Drewry. Pallbearers were: D.C. Ricks, G.L. Simmons, M.C. Hatfield, G.C. Niblett, W.C. Rawls, F.T. Joyner, C.A. Holt and J.T. Faircloth. Burial took place in the family plot at Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin on Tuesday, June 8, at 4 o’clock.
