VIRGINIA NEWS. 

  Mr. J. R. West, a valued and highly respected citizen of Southampton county, 
died at his residence, in Jerusalem, on the 8th inst.

J.R. West appears in the 1870 Census (Franklin Depot Twp., p. 32)

He appears in the 1880 Census (Newsoms, Southampton Co., p. 22) age 45; 
   wife Rebecca, 62. 


His m.rec. gives his ma as Jane.  He m. 26 Dec 1858 Rebecca L. Turner, 
   dt/o David & Prissy.  (Southampton Co. MB1:59; M.Reg. p. 5 #47) 

The (recopied) Southampton Co. Death Records (1853-1896) gives the following: 
   West, James R.., d. 8 Jun 1882, age 49, sn/o Jesse & June West 
      {orig.p. 2 #58}
