Her husband preceded her to the grave more than fifteen years ago. Four of her eleven children survive her, Mrs. T.J. Wade, Mrs. Delia Turner and W.E. Washington of this community, and Mrs. John Bowden of Boykins. She is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-one great- grandchildren. Few Southampton citizens have lived to enjoy such a ripe old age. Mrs. Washington was a member of Capron Baptist Church for more than three-fourths of a century, and active in her work for many years. Internment was made in the old burying ground at the home of her son, W.E. Washington, of this community with whom she has lived for quite a number of years, Rev. J.R. Johnson of Courtland conducting the services. The pallbearers were T.J. Harrell, H.W. Avent, Wm. Baugham, W.B. Griffin, E.A. Felts and Mr. Blow. In Memoriam Whereas our Heavenly Father on June 1, 1922, called home our friend and sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Washington, who had been a great sufferer for several years, be it resolved: First, That the death of our sister has removed from our church one whom we sadly miss as she was always present at the church services when her health would permit; Second, That we extend our deepest sympathy to her family and commit them to the care of our Heavenly Father; Third, That a copy be placed on the records of the Capron Baptist Church and a copy be sent to the Tidewater News for publication. Mrs. T. J. Harrell, Mrs. W. B. Griffin, Mrs. W. H. Ezelle, committee.
