Washington, 1608 Briarfield Road, Hampton, died at 11 p.m. Monday in the home of her son, Joseph Washington of Boykins, after a long illness. Surviving are eight sons, W. ["two sisters, Mrs. Edna T. Hop-"] T. Washington of Suffolk, J.R. Washington of Greensboro, N.C., G.E. Washington of Hampton, M.T. Washington and J.E. Washington of Norfolk, [Joseph Washington of Boykins,] A.A. Washington of Jacksonville, N.C., and L.E. Washington of Los Angeles, and four daughters, Mrs. W.T. Artis of Wildwood, N.J., Mrs. F.L. Edwards of Smithfield, Mrs. F.J. Ollie of Portsmouth and Mrs. Mitchell Simmons of Sussex Courthouse. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Washington Dies on Monday BOYKINS - Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Turner Washington will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins by the Rev. Ben Ussery, pastor of Boykins Baptist Church, and the Rev. Dalphon Thompson, pastor of Capron Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Washington family cemetery. Mrs. Washington, 84, died at her residence Monday at 11 p. m. after a long illness. She was the widow of William Eli Washington and a daughter of John Thomas and Mrs. Mary Whitley Turner. She was a member of Capron Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. W.H. Artis of Wildwood, N.J., Mrs. F.L. Edwards of Smithfield, Mrs. M.C. Simmons of Waverly and Mrs. Frank Ollie of Portsmouth; eight sons, W.T. Washington of Suffolk, J.R. Washington Sr. of Greensboro, N.C., George E. Washington of Hampton, Matthew T. Washington and James E. Washington, both of Norfolk, Joseph Washington of Boykins, A.A. Washington of Jacksonville, N.C., and Lewis R. Washington, USMC, Long Beach, Calif.; 25 grandchidren, 15 great grandchildren, and one brother, J.H. Dalphon Thompson, pastor of Capron Baptist Church. Burial was in Washington family cemetery. Pallbearers were Louis Smith, John E. Johnson, O.W. Kirkland, J.S.
