All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN BOWERS WIGGINS Funeral services for John Bowers Wiggins, Sr., 49, well-known and prominent farmer of the Franklin community, were held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the residence on the Smith’s Ferry Road with Rev. Kenneth E. Burke of Richmond, former pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church, and Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Wiggins died at Raiford Memorial Hospital early Monday morning June 11, after suffering a heart attack on Sunday. He was a native of Southampton County and was the husband of the former Miss Josephine Nye of Bristol, and the son of Mrs. Grace Darden Wiggins of Franklin and the late Irvin Quinton Wiggins. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Besides his wife and mother he is survived by two sons, John Bowers Wiggins, Jr., and Joe Nye Wiggins, both of Franklin. Burial was in the family cemetery at the home place. Active pallbearers were Hunter Darden, Jr., Dr. Sidney Kitterman, Preston Cotton, Russell Cotton, Elmo Pittman, Jesse McClenny, Parker Darden, and J. Vaughan Beale. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Men’s Bible Class of Sycamore Baptist Church, E.A. Davis, J. Letcher Eley and R.B.
