All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ALFRED RICKS WHITE Alfred Ricks White, well-known citizen and farmer of the Franklin community, died at the Protestant Hospital, Norfolk, Tuesday afternoon where he had been a patient since January 3. Mr. White was in his 67th* year and was the son of the late Oswin White and Mrs. Elizabeth Ricks White of this town. He is survived by his wife, who was before her marriage Miss Lucy Bolling Winston of Lynchburg; a daughter, Miss Nancy Moorman White, who has been teaching on Roxobel, N.C., and by a number of relatives in the town and community. Mr. White had been a successful farmer and a substantial citizen of this community for many years. He was a member of Bethel Friends Meeting and clerk of that organization since its establishment about ten years ago. Funeral services were held from his home, "The Grove," Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock, attended by a large assemblage of friends. Rev. Jesse Stanfield conducted the services and the pallbearers were: Colgate W. Darden, Dr. W.H. Arthur, I.C. White, R.B. Scott and W.A. Joyner of Franklin, Dr. P.P. Causey of Sedley, T. Philip Raiford of Corinth, and J.L. Hare of Nansemond County. Alfred 1m. Sallie Etta WINSTON WHITE (1874-1899). Neither marriage found in Southampton Co. records. All three are buried in the same family plot, as are his daughter and parents.
