A native of Southampton County, he was a son of John W. and Mrs. Nannie Freeman White. He was a retired salesman. He is survived by a brother, Richard H. White of Wakefield, and two sons, Mrs. Elliott N. Nicholson of Murfreesboro, N.C. and Mrs. James T. Knight of Richmond. A funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward B. Owen. Burial was in the family cemetery in Manry. Pallbearers were James Parson, Andrew Parsons, Alex Barrett, Hartwell Barrett, Jack Pond and J.N. Barker.
