Wade Funeral Friday FRANKLIN, Sept. 4 - James Kenneth Wade, 83, one of Southampton's oldest citizens, died at his residence near Franklin Tuesday night after suffering ill health for many months. Mr. Wade, a retired farmer of Black Creek community and son of the late James Robert and Elizabeth Fowler Wade, of Southampton County, was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church since early childhood and served his church as a teacher and Sunday school superintendent for many years. He was a member of the Holly Camp Woodmen of the World of Franklin. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. R.L. Lewis, of Zuni, and Mrs. Lizzie Brown, of Franklin; two sons, Willie Wade, of Walters, and Leonard L. Wade, of Carrsville; 13 grandchildren and nine greatgrand children; two half- brothers, Herman W. Wade, of Berlin, and Eddie Wade, of Norfolk; one half- sister, Mrs. Pattie Britt, of Ivor, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland and Sons, of Franklin, and on Friday will be taken to Black Creek Baptist Church for funeral services at 3 p.m. with the Rev. R.D. Stephenson officiating. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** JAMES KENNETH WADE James Kenneth Wade, 83, a retired farmer of the Black Creek community, died at the residence on Tuesday night, September 2, after several months of ill health. The deceased was a son of the late James Robert and Elizabeth Fowler Wade of this county. Since childhood he had been a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, in which he served for many years as Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He was a member of Holly Camp, Woodmen of the World, Franklin. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R.L. Lewis of Zuni and Mrs. Lizzie Brown of Black Creek; two sons, Willie Wade of Walter and Leonard L. Wade of Carrsville; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, Herman W. Wade of Berlin and Eddie Wade of Norfolk; and one half-sister, Mrs. Pattie Britt of Ivor. Final rites for Mr. Wade were conducted at Black Creek Baptist Church on Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock by the pastor, Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Burial was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Leland Beale, Raby Beale, Arthur Carr, A.E. Drewry, Edgar Drewry, C.C. Edwards, W.F. Edwards and Luther Lowe.
