White of the Franklin community died at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, Saturday morning, September 17, at 2 o’clock, following a period of several months of ill-health. Mr. White was 66 years old and had been a resident of this community since early manhood, being a native of Belvedere, N.C., the son of the late Exum N. and Isabella P. White. He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Mary C. Cox of Goldsboro, N.C.; by four sons Isaac C., Exum N. and Thos. P. White, Jr., of Franklin and Edward F. White of Petersburg; one daughter, Miss Mary R. White of Franklin; a brother, Joseph G. White of Tyner, N.C., and three sisters, Mrs. Martha P. Bristow of Corinth, and Misses Mary I. and Ellen M. White of Thurmont, Md. The deceased was an honorable and useful citizen, unassuming and unpretentious but faithful to all of the obligations of life and straightforward in his dealings with his fellowmen. He was an industrious and successful farmer and the children from his well-ordered, Christian home have taken useful and honorable positions of trust and usefulness. He was a member of Bethel Friends Church for many years, being a trustee and elder of the church and one of its most valued members. The funeral services were conducted from Bethel Church Sunday morning at 11 o’clock by Rev. Nathan Pickett, pastor of the deceased, assisted by Rev. Alonza Cloud of Corinth. The pallbearers were the four sons, Isaac, Exum, Edward and Thomas White, and two nephews Thos. E. and Richard Bristow of Corinth. Interment was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
