He was the eldest son of the late David White of Belvedere, Perquimans County, N.C., and was sixty-two years old. He was educated at Haverford College, Pennsylvania, and graduated in medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, taking a post-graduate course at the New York Polyclinic several years ago. Few men who have come into this community have made a better impress upon it than Doctor White. Of a retiring disposition and forced by ill-health to retire from active work several years ago, he was known and appreciated by those who knew him intimately as a man of splendid character, of friendly and generous disposition and possessed of unusual ability of intellect. He was a member of the Society of Friends and his life was modeled along the sincere and simple lines of that faith as it is practiced by its most loyal exponents. In 1909, he was married to Miss Jane Denson Pretlow, daughter of the late S.B. Pretlow, who survives him with two children, Mary Winston and Thos. N. White, Jr. He also leaves two brothers, Josiah White of Belvedere, N.C., and David White of Greensboro, N.C., and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Symes and Miss Sarah White of Greensboro, N.C. The funeral services were conducted from his late residence in Clay Street Thursday morning at 11 o’clock by Dr. C.H. Rowland of the Christian Church, assisted by Rev. A.E. Cloud of the Friends Church, the interment following at the burying ground of the Pretlow family at the Denson Pretlow place in the county. The pallbearers were Dr. E.A. de Bordenave, Dr. W.H.
