She was a native of Sussex Co., and the widow of A.M. Whitby. She was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Rosa W. Johnson; four sons, Raymond Whitby, William T. Whitby, Joe T. Whitby and New W. Whitby; one sister, Bessie Jarratt; one brother, Herbert Jarratt, three half sisters, Marie J. Carter, Ruth J. Wajciehowski and Mollie Sheely; three half brothers, John Jarratt, Waverly Jarratt, Jr. and William Jarratt; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Drewryville Cemetery by the Rev. John Lennon and the Rev. Wallace Tucker. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Capron Rescue Squad. Wright Funeral Home of Franklin was in charge. Whitby died Thursday in a hospital. A native of Sussex County, she was the widow of A.M. Whitby. Survivors include a daughter, Rosa W.H. Shelly, all of Richmond; three half brothers, John Jarratt of Drewryville, Waverly Jarratt Jr. of Carson and William Jarratt of Mechanicsville; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
